Project Group
The project grouping master, used as a filter in the summary reports: clusters for a property developer, work types for a contractor, product lines for a software house.
When To Use This Form
- Once there are enough projects that a per-group summary is more useful than a list of every project.
- It may be skipped: Project Group is not required on the Project master.
- Not for separating divisions or branches - that is already the project Division field.
Fields To Watch
| Field | What to watch |
|---|---|
| Code | Required, typed by hand, up to 30 characters. |
| Name | Required. The group name as it should appear in report filters. |
| Active | Only active groups appear in the Project master list and in report filters. Deactivate a group you no longer use rather than deleting it, so older projects keep their group. |
| Notes | Free text. |
Common Problems
- The group does not appear in the Project master or in report filters. It is not marked active.
- The group cannot be deleted. Projects still use it. Just deactivate it - older reports stay correct.
